Legacy
Laënnec worked tirelessly to perfect the art of chest examinations using his invention, the stethoscope. His methods of clinical diagnosis and examination are still used today. He also introduced many terms still used in the modern day as well as wrote two books that still serve as the foundation knowledge for diseases of the chest and heart. He wrote the first descriptions of many illnesses and conditions such as bronchiectasis, cirrhosis,pulmonary conditions, murmurs, thrills, and many others. Most importantly, his tireless work ethic towards advancing the study of the chest and his invention of the stethoscope allowed for huge advances in the study and diagnosis of chest diseases.
